Aluminium foam - Technical Details:
Alulight® is a closed-cell aluminium foam and shows a process-related casting-skin. Alulight® can be machined as easily as wood, using conventional techniques like sawing, drilling, turning, etc. Care should be taken, as the very thin surface skin can be removed by machining, thus revealing the inner pore structure.
The mechanical properties can be affected through foam density respectively pore size and may be optimized through further heat treatment.
According to requirements Alulight® aluminium foam is available in densitys ranging from 0,4 to 0,9 kg/dm3 and may be reinforced with embedded steel mesh or bonded Materials like synthetics, metal sheets, wood panels, etc.
